Final Project

Good Evening,

I am here to tell you about a story that is all too common for a college kid. Once Upon a Time, Chris Millan, a broke sophomore in college worked during his winter and summer breaks at a local Italian restaurant to save money for school. His only goal was to save enough money to buy his textbooks. He was fortunate to have his parents to help him with the rest. However, every year the textbooks had gotten more and more expensive. One night, he had a short conversation with his father:

However, that conversation didn’t solve much. Chris was still upset that he barely afford his books. After working all those hours at the Italian restaurant, he had to help his dad pay an unexpected car repair bill. Apparently, Chris’s sister ran over a pothole and smashed the front fender. Because it was her fault, Chris had to pay the auto repair shop bill.

This situation got worst, as the fall semester was quickly approaching. Chris was still broke!

So as any ill informed college student, Chris took out a small loan from an unverified source. This unverified source of income was actually a phishing scheme that stole Chris’s personal identity, permanently damaging his credit score. After a long summer of hard work and dedication and while helping his father out, he did get his textbooks, but at a cost to his prefect credit score. debtonback2

Memento Story – Daily Create #3 – 7/22/14

Remove the chicken and put it on a plate. Pour sauce over your chicken piccata dinner.

Check your amazing concoction for seasoning. Place the chicken back into the pan and let it cook for 5 minutes.

Add fresh lemon juice, white wine and capers. Bring the dish to a boil. Also add some chicken stock to your dish.

Remove the cooked chicken.

Be sure to brown one side before you flip to the next.

In a medium heat skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When you can hear the oil crackle, add both chicken breasts.

Season with a bit of salt and pepper. Then coat the chicken breasts with flour, be sure to shake off the excess.

Start off with two chicken breasts.

A Picture of Stairs – Daily Create 7/20/14 – #1

Today’s Daily Create assignment is:

Show your mood today by taking a picture of stairs. I am in a part of my life in which I believe I have the majority of it figured out. However, I am starting graduate school at UMW in the fall, this is the part of my life I am figuring out. I chose to take this picture in the dark with flash to represent my anxiety. Basically, where the flash lights the path, I am in control; but, when the stairs begins to bend and turn, represents my anxiety.  I know once my classes start and I receive my syllabus, my anxiety will drop. But until then, all I can do is wait. I took this picture with my Samsung Galaxy S4, using it’s native camera app.

Rouse Public Interest in the Daily Create via a Powerful Photo – Daily Create – 7/19/14

We are in a time in which Gaza and Israel are at war with each other. Yes, I could take a silly picture and change its filter. I could also add a caption. But it imperative, that we as students learn more about what is going on in the Middle East. Though it isn’t happening in our backyard, there are thousands of innocent people die each second as this war is going on. I think this picture is a reflection of what is going on today. I also believe that this is a truly powerful picture that can rouse the public’s interest. This image was created by Sam Rkaina. The image can be found at

Week Assignment 4 Summary Assignment

This week has been mixed to say the least. I was excited that we got to participate in the video part of the course. Given that I had few problems with iMovie, I wasn’t to worried. This week work began to slow down so I had some time to work on these assignment. I was a little disappointed that ds106 website was down for so long, it made it hard working on my assignments. Other than that, I think this week went smooth sailing. I really appreciate all the comments I have been receiving, they have been very helpful. I used it to help me fix my articles for the upcoming final week.

Chaplin Edit

This assignment was challenging to say the least. I began downloading the video from YouTube by using ClipConverter.ccScreen Shot 2014-07-19 at 2.13.23 PM

Once I did that, I uploaded the video onto iMovie:

Then I added the Music from, run amok as the background music. Before I did that, I had to mute the original pieceScreen Shot 2014-07-19 at 3.02.36 PMThat was fairly easy, as all I had to do was pull the volume tab like so.

I hope you enjoy!!
